Seven Ways to Turn Conflict-Communication Problems Around
Conflict destroys productivity, engagement, empowerment, communication, leadership and success.
Here are the ways to change theconflictual relation:
1/ DO NOT REACT and UNDERSTAND the manifestations of your automatic fight or flight response and do not react to them
2/PAUSE: let your « reaction » reflex go away and wait for your « response » reflection
3/LISTEN and UNDERSTAND the objectives of the person fuelling the conflict.
4/ BUILD CONSTRUCTIVE DISCONTENT. Feeling the emotion, not being held hostage by it
5/ FOCUS on the shared objectives
6/ AKNOWLEDGE the other party’s opinion/position. THat doesn’t mean « agree with this opinion/position »
7/ FIND A AGREEMENT and Make sure that everyone clearly understands and agrees with what has been decided
